Boort is known as The Northern Oasis and is located in the north of the Loddon Shire approximately an hours drive from Bendigo. The traditional owners of Boort are the Dja Dja Wurrung people. There are many remnants of traditional indigenous life in and around the town. The people of Boort are warm and friendly in welcoming visitors to the town. The township is clean and tidy, has an absence of crime and vandalism. Real Estate in Boort is thriving and presents real value for money.
Lake Boort is central to the town and is used for water sports including skiing, sailing, fishing and swimming. Boort is also home to abundant birdlife where swans, ibis, pelicans and other birds can be observed. The lakes around Boort are home to a vast variety of wildlife.
The community is involved in maintaining and developing the natural resources of the area along with the physical infrastructure such as parks, gardens, community buildings and public amenities.
The area is renowned for its many sporting clubs, its lakes and water sports, along with its diverse farming community, who specialise in sheep farming, growing a range of crops and who are diversifying into olives, green tomatoes, woollen products and grapes.
Boort has lovely walking tracks in and around the lakes, and award winning Caravan Park, good health services, schools, banking services and a range of hotels, boutique accommodation, retailers and light industry.
